The Board is tasked by the Department's Senior Leaders to examine topics of interest to the Department of Defense.  The Board assigns the task to one of its subcommittees to study the topic.  The subcommittee assumes the responsibility for conducting the study, developing recommendations, and providing an opportunity for deliberation by the entire Board and public prior to the finalization and delivery of the study to the Secretary and Deputy Secretary of Defense.
