Kevin E. Walker
Kevin Walker is the Chief Operating Officer of Iberdrola USA. In this role he is responsible for safe, reliable and efficient gas and electric operations delivered to nearly 3 Million customers throughout Iberdrola USA’s territory in Maine, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and New York.
His prior role was as Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer for American Electric Power, responsible for development and support of AEP's software applications and operation of AEP's information technology infrastructure.
Previously, he was President and Chief Operating Officer for AEP Ohio, serving approximately 1.44 million customers in Ohio and the northern West Virginia panhandle, with authority for distribution operations and a wide range of customer and regulatory relationships.
Before joining AEP in 2004, Kevin was Vice President, Maintenance and Construction Services, for Consolidated Edison of New York where he directed efforts to ensure the efficient delivery of maintenance and construction services throughout the Consolidated Edison service territory, including the five boroughs of New York City and Westchester. He was instrumental in directing recovery of energy service following the collapse of the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001.
Kevin spent approximately 13 years with Consolidated Edison in various leadership positions. He served as Waterside Plant Manager, Steam Operations Department Manager, and as New York City public affairs liaison where he was the primary interface with the New York City mayor’s office during the administration of former Mayor Rudy Giuliani.
Kevin graduated in 1985 from the United States Military Academy with a bachelor’s of science in civil engineering. He has a master’s of business administration from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School. He served for more than six years in the US Army including as a Captain in field artillery leadership positions in Augsburg, Germany, at Fort Bragg, N.C., and during peacetime and wartime conditions in support of Operation Desert Storm in Iraq.
Kevin serves on the board of advisors for Comprehensive Development Inc., a nonprofit organization that supports mentoring and development programs for the Manhattan Comprehensive Night and Day High School. Kevin is the past founding board chair for IMPACT Community Action Agency (formerly named Columbus/Franklin County Community Action Agency Task Force). He has also served as a board member for the Jazz Arts Group, OhioHealth, and Lincoln Theatre Center. In addition, he served on the Columbus Zoo & Aquarium, the Ohio Partnership for Continued Learning, Wexner Center for the arts and Ohio Business Development Coalition from September 2005 to January 2007.
In March 2009, Kevin was awarded the Robert S. Crane Young Philanthropist Award by the United Way of Central Ohio. In 2005, Kevin was recognized by Black Enterprise Magazine as one of corporate America’s 75 top black business leaders. He was also featured in the 2008 edition of Who’s Who in Black Columbus (Ohio). In 1999, he received the Harlem YMCA’s Black Achiever in Industry Award.
