COL John Shank

COL John Shank serves as the Army Representative to the Defense Business Board.  COL Shank has been in the Army over 28 years and has served on the Joint Staff, Army Staff, Combatant Command, and NATO level staffs.

COL Shank's recent assignments include serving as the Executive Officer to the US Deputy Advisor (US Army 2 star) to the Afghan Minister of Defense in Kabul, Afghanistan; the Chief of the Concepts, Studies, and Analyses Branch in the Joint Requirements Office for Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Defense of the Joint Staff, J-8; and as the Executive Officer to the Commander, US Army Cadet Command, Ft. Knox, KY. 

COL Shank is a native of Owosso, Michigan.  He was commissioned in the Army Chemical Corps through the Reserve Officer Training Course upon graduation from Wheaton College in 1989, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology.  John holds a Master's degree from the Command & General Staff College. 

COL Shank is married to the former Connie Hornback of Upton, KY, who is a US Army Reserve colonel assigned to the Office of the Chief of the Army Reserves.  John and Connie have three children.
