Colonel Julie Thomas
Colonel Julie Thomas is the Army National Guard Military Representative to the Defense Business Board. Prior to assuming her current position, she was the Chief of Staff for National Guard Bureau Joint Staff.
COL Thomas is a Senior Army Aviator with over 35 years of total active and reserve service. Over the course of her career, she has commanded at the company and battalion level and has served in a variety of staff positions at the national level. Key staff assignments include: Surface Deployment Distribution Command as a transportation staff officer in Rotterdam, Netherlands; International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) mentor to the Afghan National Police and ISAF CJ4 Aviation Planner in Kabul, Afghanistan; Chief of the Deployment Readiness Center and Deputy Division Chief for Army National Guard G-3 Mobilization and Readiness Division; and Senior Policy Analyst at OUSD Policy/OASD (SO/LIC).
COL Thomas graduated from the University of North Dakota. She has earned a Master of Strategic Studies from the United States Army War College, a Master of Science in Strategic Intelligence from the National Intelligence University, and is a graduate of the National Security Seminar XXI from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Center for International Studies.
Her awards and decorations include the Defense Superior Service Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal with oak leaf cluster, the Meritorious Service Medal with oak leaf cluster, the Army Commendation Medal, Senior Army Aviator Badge, Office of the Secretary of Defense Identification Badge, and Army Staff Identification Badge.
