Maj Luke Buckley is an Air Force Strategic Policy Fellow and the Service’s Representative to the Defense Business Board.

Prior to coming to the Defense Business Board in February 2017, Maj Buckley served at the Department of State’s Bureau of Conflict and Stabilization Operations, where he was part of the Partnerships, Strategy, and Communications office. As the Strategy Officer, Maj Buckley led a whole-of-organization planning process to produce a three-year strategy for the Bureau’s role in advancing conflict and stabilization in U.S. foreign policy.

Prior to that, Maj Buckley served as the Executive Officer to the Director of Logistics, Headquarters Air Force in the Pentagon, where he managed, coordinated, and directed correspondence for all directorate tasks assigned by Headquarters Air Force, the Joint Staff, and the Office of the Secretary of Defense.

Maj Buckley, an aircraft maintenance officer, has served in various assignments to include Aircraft Maintenance Unit Officer in Charge, Instructor, Executive Officer, and Operations Officer. He has deployment experience in Southwest Asia, including a combat tour in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM.

Maj Buckley holds a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN, and a Master of Science in Management from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
